The second installment of Synth Nights’ intergenerational electronic music series features recent and vintage works by legendary composer David Behrman, including Runthrough (1968, for homemade synthesizers and light-controlled mixers), Cello with Melody-driven Electronics (1974, for cello with pitch-sensors and triangle-wave generators), Interspecies Smalltalk (1984, for violin, keyboard, Apple II computer and accessories), and an untitled new composition. Performers will include Okkyung Lee and Sergei Tcherepnin. In counterpoint, Ben Vida collaborates with Greg Davis to present a new work, Tripartite Node, utilizing a hybrid computer/analog synthesizing setup designed for real-time composition and centralized control-source improvisations. Tripartite Node represents the duo’s most recent foray into systems-derived group composition. More info here.
